The Bridgnorth Art Trail project is led by Bridgnorth Town Council and brings together partners from business, the local community and our local art scene.
We have installed 12 statues in key beauty spots around the town to form a 2-mile walking trail. Each statue has been cast in aluminium by MCMT apprentices at Grainger & Worrall Ltd. into a shape that pays tribute to Trevithick’s famous “Catch-Me-Who-Can” locomotive, first built in Bridgnorth in 1808.
Our trains are a bit different though … each one has been designed with artwork by a local artist to showcase their talents, our local points of interest, and the achievements of our local business sponsors.
Your mission – should you choose to accept it – is to use our free, downloadable or glossy print maps, to try and find all 12 statues whilst enjoying a scenic and heritage-filled walk around our town.
But don’t just admire the quality and variety of different artist styles, why not also listen to local voices present a round up of information about the history, sponsor and artist at each location?
Also, see if you can find the anagram letter hidden on each plinth, to “crack the code” and enter our competition. You will need to find all 12 statues and jot down the letters to help you deduce the anagram – then email your answer, name, contact number and postcode to our team at: firstname.lastname@example.org. (We will not pass on any of your details to third parties.)
One lucky winner will be drawn at Easter 2019 to receive a free family ticket for the Severn Valley Railway, plus some Art Trail goodies for the runners up.
This is the first time Bridgnorth Town Council has run a project to install a public art exhibition. It has been delivered completely through sponsorship and volunteers, and we are always on the lookout for new sponsors, new artists and new volunteers to join the trail in 2019!
